Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland agreed to give £5,000 to Keyfund Cumbria. The money will enable the 12 Keyfund facilitators and groups to continue in Copeland. It will also go towards training another 19 facilitators and provide extra youth work training to existing members.
Keyfund Cumbria is a partnership involving Young Cumbria, Connexions, South Lakeland & Barrow Local Committees. It is a youth education project for groups of young people aged 11 - 25. It enables them to learn through something that interests them and awards them money so they can put their ideas into practice.
County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee says
"This Local Committee has always been committed to providing high quality services to the young people of our area. Keyfund Cumbria provides a valuable opportunity for youngsters to improve their education and skills and enhance their employability."
