25/06/04 - Local Committee continues to support youth centres in Copeland

Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland agreed to continue to support the 2 youth centres in Copeland. The youth centres continue to develop services to the young people of the area continuing the Local Committee's commitment to youngsters in Copeland.   

Members of the local committee also paid tribute to the excellent partnership working between their own neighbourhood development officer for youth and Connexions. This valuable partnership has enabled many excellent youth programmes to be developed throughout Copeland.   

Egremont & Frizington Youth Centre provide high quality servies for Copeland youngsters. They assist in the Local Committee meeting the County's long term plan for the development of services for young people.   

Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee says   

"This Local Committee has always been committed in developing youth work in Copeland working in partnership with Connexions and the voluntary sector. The youth centres at Egremont & Frizington provide excellent facilities for young people to meet and socialise. Not only that, they provide excellent youth programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award for the youngsters to take part in."
