25/06/04 - Local Committee relieves pressure at Frizington waste site

Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland agreed to extend the opening hours at Frizington civic amenity site. The site will now be open on Saturdays from 8am - 4pm throughout the year and on Thursdays during peak season (April - October). The extra opening hours and additional staffing will help to cope with increased demand from the public and reduce congestion at the site.   

Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee says    

"There are more people getting rid of waste at our amenity sites. This is causing congestion at the site and increasing the risk to people's health and safety. Opening the Frizington site on Saturdays and Thursdays will relieve some of the pressure. More staff will be employed to manage the flow of users and help them find the right disposal containers."
