County Councillor Ian Stewart, Chair of South Lakeland Local Committee says,
“The County Council is committed to economic development and regeneration. I am therefore very pleased that the local Committee has chosen to make this commitment to the development of these two market town initiatives in South Lakeland. The two projects for the Lakes and Ulverston & Low Furness have project managers responsible for managing the local projects designed to bring economic benefits to their respective areas. We have also committed £10,000 to the Lake District Penninsula Tourism Partnership to support the development of Furness and Cartmel as a tourist destination. The funding from the Council will help to draw down significant match fumding from other organisations such as the North West Development Agency.”
The local committee’s support of these three local regeneration partnerships highlights its commitment to the economic well being of South Lakeland.
