05/05/04 - £8k for extra support at Millom Family Network Centre

This week, Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Copeland agreed to allocate £8k towards providing an extra family support worker at Millom Family Network Centre.  The support worker will work with children and their families to make sure they have access to support in their area.

The Millom Family Network Centre is at Millom Infants School.  The Centre works with all the existing projects in Millom including Schools, Home Start and other agencies such as Health & Social Services.  A Children’s Centre & Extended School pilot is to be developed in the area and the Family Network Centre is involved in both these projects.

County Councillor Simon Leyton, Vice Chair of the Local Committee says

“Another dedicated support worker is needed at the Millom Family Network Centre.  I am very pleased that we have been able to contribute to this post.  They will provide valuable support to children and their families through the Centre giving them better access to facilities throughout their area.  Family support is essential if all children and their families are to be able to make the most of the opportunities available to them.”
