Young and old in the Penrith area are being offered new experiences at their local library.
Budding young authors are being urged to put pen to paper and enter a writing competition.
Penrith Library wants all interested eight to 12 year olds to take part in the event which is being run with the help of children’s author Julia Jarman.
Julia has provided the first line and entrants will be asked to complete the story. The competition runs until June 7 and application forms are available from the library.
Julia Jarman will choose a winner and the result will be announced on Tuesday June 22. The winning entry will be published in the Eden Arts newsletter.
Meanwhile the library is offering free one hour Internet taster sessions to the over 50s as part of national Silver Surfers Day this Friday (May 21). The sessions are aimed at people who have little or no experience of using computers or the Internet.
To book your place or to find out more about the writing competition, call the library on 01768 242100.
