18/05/04 - Partnership is key to successful children's services

The Individual Support Consultative Forum met last week to discuss way forward for children’s services in Cumbria.  The forum’s vision puts children at the centre of service delivery and development.  The themes that came from the consultation included better communication between agencies, better partnership working and information sharing.  County Councillor Sue Brown, Chair of the Individual Support Consultative Forum says,

“I was delighted at the number of people and agencies contributing to the thinking on children’s services.  There was a general agreement that a single point of assessment would be a welcome development as well as pooled budgets where legislation allows.  Consultees included service users, carers, voluntary and statutory organisations.  The views of the stakeholders will be considered by the County Council in the future development and delivery of services.”

The Individual Support Consultative Forum meets next on 19 July to discuss the Council’s corporate strategy.
