28/05/04 - More Cumbrian Schools get Artsmark Awards

Cumbria County Council's Local Education Service is delighted to announce that another 13 Schools in Cumbria have received Artsmark Awards. Artsmark is awarded to schools who show a commitment to the full range of arts, music, dance, drama and art & design. It is a national awards scheme managed by Arts Council England.   

Schools can apply for one of three levels - Artsmark, Artsmark Silver or Artsmark Gold. The following schools receiving awards in Round 4 are:   

Appleby Primary School Artsmark Silver   

Ashfield Junior School Artsmark Silver 

Coniston C.E Primary School Artsmark Silver   

Ghyllside Primary School Artsmark Gold   

Grasmere C.E VA Primary School Artsmark Gold   

Grasslot Infant School Artsmark Silver 

Greengate Junior School Artsmark Gold   

Selside Endowed CE School Artsmark Gold   

St Pius X Catholic Primary School Artsmark   

The Alfred Barrow School Artsmark Silver 

Thomlinson Junior School Artsmark   

Wigton Infant School Artsmark   

William Howard School Artsmark   

County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says 

"This is a wonderful achievement for all of these schools. These awards will provide schools with an opportunity to work in partnership with arts organisations and arts practitioners. Pupils with be able to participate in arts during curriculum time as well of out of ours. Well done to everyone involved."
