29/11/2004 - New mobile youth club for the City

A new mobile youth club will soon be making its way around the City. Members of Carlisle Local Committee's working group for young people will see the new bus for the first time on Wednesday, 1 December at the Civic Centre in Carlisle. The local committee has bought the use of this state of the art double decker bus from the Living Well Trust.

The newly refurbished bus has the latest in up to date technology as well as a chill out zone and refreshment area. The bus is owned and managed by the Living Well Trust. The county council, through the local committee and neighbourhood forum budgets, buy in the service from Living Well in areas such as Denton Holme, Belle Vue, Brampton and at the Skatepark .

Councillor John Collier, chairman of the local committee said:

"Cumbria County Council make a considerable investment in services to young people. We are committed in developing youth work in Carlisle working in partnership with Connexions and the voluntary sector. Youth centres provide excellent facilities for young people to meet and socialise. This mobile centre will benefit youngsters all over the city who may not normally use such facilities."
