22/10/2004 - Local committee continues to support early years projects in Eden

Today, Cumbria County Council's local committee for Eden agreed to grant £1500 to Jenny Wren's Day Care in Appleby. 

The new facility is due to open by the end of the month and will provide 21 childcare places, including nine places for babies. The nursery is also aiming to provide foundation stage education by the Autumn of 2005.

Chairman of the local committee, Gary Strong said:

"There has been a gap in the provision of full daycare in this area so I am pleased that the county council is supporting this much needed facility. There is a growing demand for childcare, however the facilities provided must meet the needs of the parents as well as being affordable. This money will enable the nursery to get on its feet, get equipment in place such as books, tapes, and musical instruments. I am sure the people of the area will be delighted with the new nursery."
