22/10/2004 - Over £7,000 given to community groups in Eden
Today, Cumbria County Council’s local committee for Eden were informed that the five neighbourhood forums throughout the area had granted nearly £7k since September to support community groups in Eden.
The community grants, given by neighbourhood forums across Eden, are to support local community activities and projects. Chairman of the local committee, councillor Gary Strong said:
"The County Council is committed to supporting the economic, environmental and social well being of the people of Eden. Community grants are a primary source of social support and help to ensure social inclusion and community participation. I am pleased to see so many groups being supported."
The groups that have been supported are:
Alston and East Fellside forum area
£600 to Langwathby Village Hall for new tables and stacking trolley
£75 to Cumbria Organic Gardeners and Farmers for publicity costs
£300 to Eden Sports Council to help towards skate park in Penrith
£600 to Kirkoswald Church Institute to refurbish the committee room
Eden Fells forum area
£200 to Fellrunner Village Bus Ltd for tour costs
£500 to Kirkby Thore Parish Council for two community seats
£209 to Friends of Asby School for a community art project
£400 to Yanwath pre-school nursery for outside play equipment
£50 to Cumbria Organic Gardeners and Farmers for publicity costs
£250 to Shap Greyhounds netball team to go towards repairing the netball court
£232 to Bolton Primary School for a community art project
£366 to Shap C of E School for a community art project
£298 to Morland School PTA for a community art project
£244 to Friends of Temple Sowerby School for a community art project
Upper Eden forum area
£200 to Ravenstonedale Tennis Club to refurbish the tennis court
£200 to Friends of Milburn School for a community art project
£100 to Cumbria Organic Farmers for publicity costs
£200 to Long Marton School for a community art project
£200 to Eden Sports Council to go towards skate park in Penrith
Penrith Urban forum area
£200 to Fellrunner Village Bus Ltd for tour costs
£75 to Cumbria Organic Gardners for pubicity costs
£200 to Penrith and District LETS scheme for publicity costs
£1000 to Eden Sports Council towards skate park in Penrith
Eden Vale forum area
£100 to Fellrunner Village Bus Ltd for tour costs
£100 to Penrith and District LETS scheme for publicity costs
