On Tuesday 12 October at 10am, Morton School in Carlisle will for the first time, host the county council's education consultative forum meeting. Pupils, parents, parent governors, teachers and headteachers from Morton, Caldew Lea, Newlaithes Junior and Newman will attend the forum to give their views.
The forum wants to hear from students, pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff and others involved in education on a number of issues. These include, putting children first, support for young people aged 13-19, alternative provision for pupils with behavioural problems and tailoring provision for urban and rural communities.
Chairman of the forum, councillor Philip Chappelhow said:
"One of the County Council's key priorities is to promote learning in Cumbria. This forum addresses many important issues such as inclusive education, behaviour issues, building schools for the future, and more. We need to continue to listen to the views of the people directly effected to inform the decisions we make. We intend to make sure that all future forum meetings are held in schools across the county so more students and parents can come along and join in the discussions."
Headteacher, Heather Sargeson said:
"I am looking forward to hosting the council's education consultative forum. I think it is very important that students and parents as well as teachers have the opportunity to give their views on council services and other issues that directly effect them."
