2/12/2005 - Special meeting on number six bus

A special neighbourhood forum meeting in Seascale on Monday, 5th December, will discuss the future of the number six bus service between Whitehaven, Seascale, Drigg and Muncaster.

The combined meeting of the Bootle and Seascale and Gosforth and Ennerdale forums  will give people a chance to air their views on the future of the number six service which will be put out to tender in the New Year.

Cumbria County Council financially supports the service and wants to make sure that it meets the needs of the communities it serves. Results from the meeting and from an online consultation will be used to help design a new service which is due to start in April.

The meeting, at 7pm in Seascale Methodist Church Hall, will be chaired by county councillor Sue Brown.

Mrs Brown said: "We are very keen to find out what people need from this service. What they tell us at this special meeting, and in the online consultation, will help to shape the number six service in the future."

"Public transport can be particularly important for young people so we're particularly keen to hear their views and hope that many of them will take the time to complete the on-line survey."

The online consultation can be seen at found at http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/consultation/currentconsult.asp
