Chairman of Cumbria County Council, John Collier, will present long service awards to 12 members of staff who have each completed 35 years service with the county council and its partners. The awards ceromony will be held on Friday 9th December 2005, at 11.30am in Tullie House, Carlisle.
The ceremony follows on from the long service awards held last week for education staff.
Each award winner will be presented with a gift to the value of £350. The staff collecting the awards represent a cross section of the council's directorates and services and work all over the county. They include Firefighters, Librarians, Engineers and Care Workers. Between them they have clocked up more than 420 years of public service.
John Collier is looking forward to presenting the awards, he says:
"I am delighted to be presenting the awards to staff from across the council and the county. These awards recognise a contribution made over the majority of a persons working life.
"The awards represent an incredible achievement from all concerned and their service has made a significant contribution to the people in Cumbria. I would like to thank each and everyone of them for the dedication and commitment they have shown over the last 35 years."
