Residents in and around the St Aidans area will have an opportunity to hear more about the pilot alleygates scheme for St Aidans at the next neighbourhood forum meeting.
Steven O'Keefe from the Carlisle and Eden Crime and Disorder Partnership will be at the meeting to given residents an update on the scheme and answer any questions.
The alleygates project looks at putting gates across back lanes to prevent crime, anti-social behaviour and substance misuse. Only residents and organisations that need access to the alleys will have keys.
Local county councillor Reg Watson said:
"Reducing crime and the fear of crime is high on our list of priorities and alleygates can play an important part in some areas of the City. This forum will give residents in St Aidans more information about the pilot alleygate scheme for this area. I would encourage anyone who wants to find out more to come along to the meeting on Wednesday."
Other items on the agenda include:
1. Carlisle Renaissance - A representative from Carlisle City Council will be at the meeting to listen to resident's views on the regeneration plan for Carlisle after the January floods
2. Grants - The forum will consider grant applications from voluntary groups across the area for various projects
