12/12/2005 - Residents asked to do their bit to reduce waste and recycle

Residents in and around the Belle Vue area are asked to attend the next neighbourhood forum meeting to hear more about how they can get involved in reducing the amount of waste going to landfill sites.

A representative from Carlisle City Council will be at the meeting on Thursday 15th December to give a presentation on waste minimisation and recycling.

Local county councillor Cyril Weber said:

"I am sure that everyone is aware that if we don't all work together to do our bit to reduce landfill waste Cumbria could face the risk of huge fines.  I would like to encourage people to come along to the meeting on Thursday to find out more about what they can do to help."

Other items on the agenda include:

1.  Feedback from Belle Vue questionnaires
2.  Police matters
3.  Grants to voluntary organisations

The forum will meet in The Museum Pub on Moorhouse road at 10.30am.
