Higher Education across Cumbria is looking forward to a brighter future according to county councillor Joan Stocker, the council's spokesperson for education. The council is sure that government support for a University of Cumbria, announced today, is good news for both Cumbrian students and the county's economy.
Councillor Stocker explains:
"Bringing together higher education providers from across the county is an ideal way to create a top quality university for the county one that will build on the many strengths already here. I believe it will provide excellent higher education opportunities for students from Cumbria and attract students to the county from across the country and beyond.
A vibrant, high achieving, modern university will not just attract high quality students but support the economy of the county by providing investment, jobs and enriching the social and cultural life of Cumbria.
Today's' announcement is a significant step forward in achieving that goal."
