The Phoenix Youth Project will now be able to run a youth club from the Adams Hall in Arlecdon after receiving funding from Cumbria County Council's local committee for Copeland.
The local committee this week agreed to pay £1000 towards some shutters around the bar area for health and safety reasons. Installing these shutters will allow the hall to operate as a youth centre once a week.
Chairman of the local committee, councillor Ronnie Calvin said:
"The Adams Hall has recently been refurbished and a bar area is now also available. Because it now has this facility, more people want to hire the hall for various functions. This includes Phoenix Youth Project now wanting to use the hall for a youth centre each week. It was felt, however, that due to health and safety, it was necessary to install shutters around this area to make sure it was a safe environment for young people to use. The county council is always looking to increase its support to youth services across the area. I am sure that the young people using this facility will enjoy it."
