24/2/2005 - Rural transport top of agenda for neighbourhood forum

The next Neighbourhood Forum meeting for Dalston and Cummersdale will be held at the Victory Hall in Dalston on Monday 28th February at 7pm.

The main item on the agenda is rural transport and 'Rural Wheels'.   There will be an opportunity for residents who were affected by the recent flooding to share experiences or raise any issue with the county and city council.   Other issues on the agenda include police matters and funding for community group projects in the area.

Chairman of the forum, councillor John Collier said:

"This meeting will give residents an opportunity to discuss the new rural transport service, Rural Wheels.   This service is for people in rural areas who do not have access to conventional public transport.   A representative from the county council will be on hand to outline briefly how the area can benefit from this new programme.

Our local community police officer, Paul Shorrock, will also be at the meeting.   Residents will be able to talk to Paul and raise any issue or concern they may have in the neighbourhood.   The neighbourhood forum focuses on issues that are at the heart of the local community. It is a public meeting so anyone can attend.   I hope people take the opportunity to come along on Monday."

Any groups interested in applying for funding from the forum can contact the Carlisle Area Support Team on 01228 606317 for an application form.
