Hensingham will benefit from more sporting facilities thanks to Cumbria County Council's local committee for Copeland.
The Committee, this week, agreed to grant £5k to the Copeland Stadium Trust to go towards expanding current facilities in Hensingham. This includes building an all weather pitch, a second pitch specifically for youngsters, and expanding the current changing facilities, gym and function room. Modifications to the athletic track will also be carried out to ensure that there is easy access for disabled people into all areas.
County councillor, Ronnie Calvin, chairman of the local committee said:
"I am delighted that we have been able to assist with such an important project to enhance sports development in West Cumbria. The Copeland Stadium Trust have worked extremely hard over the last few years to get more groups and individuals to use these facilities. People come from all over the area to use the track, gym and football pitch. Expanding and developing what's available at the moment will enable even more people to benefit."
