11/1/2005 - Norman Street School

Carlisle media are invited to visit the food distribution centre at Norman Street School in the city, to see how the centre is offering respite and hot food to local flood-hit households.

Staff at the school were asked by police to act as a food distribution centre, but as soon as power was available school staff went a step further started serving hot meals to anyone in need.

Now the school is offering a few moments respite as well as hot food and drinks to many flood-affected residents of the Warwick Road.

Some households are still without power and many are now facing up the daunting task of cleaning up their homes now that the floodwater has receded.

Media are invited to be at the school at noon on Wednesday, January 12.
