Cumbria County Council congratulates students and teachers on GCSE and A level results confirmed today by the Department of Education and Skills.
County councillor Joan Stocker, cabinet member for education said:
“These results confirm the early indications which we had for Cumbria in August. GCSE results have improved significantly over the year by over two percentage points. These results build on previous improvements over the last five years and I am delighted that Cumbria’s performance is keeping pace with national comparisons.
A level results have also improved this year. Five percent more students have gained good A level results achieving the results they need to secure the university place or career to which they aspire.
We are proud of the achievements of our young people in Cumbria and their success is a real tribute to them, their parents and the teachers who have supported them.”
