Cumbria County Council is inviting residents from the Wetheral and Stanwix Rural ward to attend an emergency neighbourhood forum meeting to discuss the aftermath of last week's floods.
The meeting will be held at Linstock W.I Hall on Thursday 27th January at 7pm. County and City councillors and officers as well as representatives from various agencies will be on hand to give advice to residents who have been affected by the floods.
County councillor John Mallinson is chairing the forum meeting. He said:
"Residents, I am sure, still have many questions they want answered after the devastating affects of last week's floods. This meeting will give those people an opportunity to hear from the various agencies who tackled the emergency as well as those dealing with the recovery.
Application forms for financial support from the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund will also be available. The county council believes this is the most effective method of distributing financial support and would encourage people to make applications. Our own Neighbourhood Development Officers will be more than happy to help local people complete the forms.
As well as the floods issue residents in this area have expressed concern regarding noise pollution from the M6 motorway, this is still on the agenda for this meeting. I would urge anyone who has an interest in either of these issues to come along on Thursday."
