15/7/2005 - 2005 Year of the Volunteer Awards

The last chance for Cumbrians to nominate their top volunteers is rapidly approaching. 2005 is the Year of the Volunteer and the "YV05" awards have been created to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of volunteers in England. The deadline for nominations for the awards is on Monday 18 July.

Volunteers can be nominated in one of five categories. 2,005 commemorative medals have been struck by the Royal Mint and will be awarded to the 401 most deserving volunteers in each of five Award categories:

• Year of the Volunteer Award for Innovation

• Year of the Volunteer Award for Commitment

• Year of the Volunteer Award for Impact

• Year of the Volunteer Award for Inspiration

• Year of the Volunteer Award for Partnership

The 2,005 medal recipients will be shortlisted to 10 runners-up and one overall category champion per English region.

All Category Champions will be invited to attend a Year of the Volunteer celebration event in London in January 2006, where the overall Champion of each category will be announced on the night. Further details are available on the Nomination Form.
