Concerns of local residents about problems on Brampton Road, in Rickerby Park and the Etterby Street areas of Carlisle will be raised at the next neighbourhood forum meeting for the Stanwix Urban area.
Jim Smith, the county council's Area Highways Engineer, will be at the meeting to hear their concerns and explain what action the county council can take. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 20th July at 7pm at Burnside Court, Rosebery Road in Stanwix.
Chair of the forum, councillor Liz Mallinson said:
"I have received many letters and phone calls from worried residents about the amount of traffic using these areas as rat runs. This meeting will give residents an opportunity to express their concerns and air their views to the county councils highway engineer so the matter can be taken forward."
Last meeting on the subject of traffic it was mentioned that there is frustration over road works, a plea was made that United Utilities work should be initiated on a sensible basis. Discussions took place on traffic management in the city.
Speeding on Brampton Road was consulted on and how to manage speeding traffic. Concern was also raised about Longlands Road being used as a 'Rat Run', this was being looked into.
