Cumbria County Council continues to deliver improvement in the quality of its services according to its annual review and best value performance plan.
The plan was presented to the council's cabinet this week and includes details of the council's performance over the last year. It also compares Cumbria County Council with other similar local authorities as well as setting improvement priorities.
Figures clearly show that the majority of performance indicators are moving in the right direction and the council is now better equipped to monitor performance and to keep improving.
County councillor Ian Stewart, cabinet spokesman for performance said:
"This plan is very encouraging, however further improvement is still necessary to make sure that the people of this county continue to receive quality services. The plan gives us an analysis of our performance as well as our targets for the next three years. We will continue to build on the excellent services we provide and use this information to focus our resources on those areas of improvement. Auditors have already said that based on our current plans we are now well placed to improve the way we work and the services that we provide."
The plan will now be put before full council on 28th July 2005.
