20/7/2005 - Works on Warwick Road

Essential resurfacing works are due to start on Sunday, 24th July, on the A69 Warwick Road between the Eastern Way junction and the Tesco junction.

The work, which is to be carried out in two phases, should be complete within two weeks.

The existing traffic lights at the Eastern Way junction & the Tesco junction will be will be manually controlled during peak times. It will, however, be necessary to prohibit the right turn from Eastern Way onto Warwick Road. Traffic will instead be diverted via Scotby Road and Montgomery Way.

This project also includes the construction of a new pedestrian crossing beside the entrance to the new Toby Inn which is being paid for by the developer.

This and the 230 metres of resurfacing have been timed to run together and to coincide with the end of the school term in order to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

Contractors fro Cumbria County Council will be on site seven-days-a-week to complete the works as quickly as possible
