Cumbria County Council's local committee for Carlisle today agreed to grant £2k towards Carlisle Cathedral's 'Great Fair'.
The Fair will be held during the last two weeks in August and the first two weeks in September. Various events and initiatives will be organised throughout the four weeks for everyone to take part in and enjoy. People will be able to visit the cathedral's Fratry, Priors Tower and the Bishop Smith Registry where people can take part in events.
County councillor, Cyril Weber, chairman of the local committee said:
"This is a wonderful opportunity to promote the City. Many of the events planned include storytelling, an art exhibition, the St Cuthbert's Pilgrimage, and the Paley Bicentenary Exhibition. I am sure with all this, the Fair will be a great success and I am delighted that this local committee was able to provide some support towards to event."
