22/7/2005 - The Write Read

Cumbria County Council Library service and Writing Cumbria are inviting Book-lovers to Higham Hall, Bassenthwaite, for a day designed to bring together Cumbrian writers with their readers. The event will take place on the 3rd September 2005 from 9.30am - 4.00pm.

Visitors will be able to meet Cumbrian authors such as Jim Eldridge, Sarah Hall and Victoria Routledge and get the chance to look at audiobooks with 'The Archers' Pat Archer (actress Patricia Gallimore). They will also be able to take part in a series of different workshops with their chosen writers.

The event will be hosted by Anne Caldwell of the National Association for Literature Development. There will also be a Literary quiz with a £25 book token as a prize and plenty of opportunites to buy books from the Bookends bookstall.

Councillor Roger Bingham, Spokesman for the Libraries, says, " This is a wonderful opportunity for the authors of Cumbria to meet their fans and get personal opinions from individuals about their work. It also gives people the chance to ask questions and receive answers directly and be involved through workshops and readings."

The cost is £20 per person, including lunch, and booking forms can be picked up from libraries. The booking forms must be returned, with payment no later then Monday 15th August 2005.
