27/7/2005 - Early years providers praise Cumbria Sure Start for successful fun day

Childcare providers in Copeland praised Cumbria Sure Start for the successful fun day organised recently to celebrate National Sure Start Month.

The fun day was organised so providers could meet each other, learn new ideas and share good practice. Various workshops were organised so children could try out new activities and providers could consider the new ideas to implement within their own setting.

County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:

"There has been some really positive feedback from everyone who attended this fun day which is very encouraging. More than 130 children were there and everyone seemed to have a great time. Childcare providers were able to get together and take back some great ideas for their own nursery or playgroup. Some even want to see this organised every year. Congratulations to all involved."

Deborah Plews a childminder from Gosforth said:

"The entire day was excellent, very well organised. It never felt crowded or too busy. It was also nice to see some familiar faces from the library and from the toy library. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."
