5/7/2005 - Moving On - For Adults awards

Hundreds of Cumbrian students will be celebrating on Wednesday 13th July (10.00 - 14.00) at an award ceremony for the Cumbria County Council Adult Education Service’s "Moving On - For Adults" programme at Hundith Hill Hotel, Cockermouth.

Mick Farley, Executive Director of the Learning Skills Council, will present over 200 certificates for nationally recognised qualifications attained through the Teeside Region Open College Network.

The event will also include a celebratory buffet, an opportunity to view students’ work and a chance for the successful students to share their experience with next year’s intake.

"Moving On - For Adults" is a programme of courses for Adults with special requirements. Students choose their course content to match their needs and interests from a range of 80 subjects available. Options can be as varied as personal care and health, basic woodwork or an introduction to aromatherapy!

Students accessing the programme include people with learning difficulties/disabilities, mental health problems and older learners . A further 100 learners will access the scheme over the next year at venues across the county.

The County Council is very proud of the Adult Education Service it offers an excellent programme and works hard to support vulnerable adults to further their education."
