Young people in the Yewdale area are being asked to become more involved in their community and air their views in the area's community plan.
Young people will give a presentation on their ideas to be included within the plan at the meeting on Wednesday 8th June at Morton School Lecture Hall at 1.15pm.
County councillor Helen Horne, chair of the forum said:
"I am delighted that the youngsters in this area want to become involved with this community plan. We want to hear about their ideas and how those ideas can be included in the plan. We want this area to be a welcoming place to live with plenty of community activities and facilities for everyone to benefit from. We want to make sure that the issues which are most important to the residents of this area are addressed and see how we can develop the locality so that people living here have a friendly, peaceful, safe environment."
County council neighbourhood development officer for the area, Bob Davies said:
"I am very pleased to have the youth involved with drawing up this community plan. We, as community workers, do listen to the young people and there involvement in this plan just goes to show that we value their comments. It couldn’t be a community plan without the involvement of the whole community and everyone's input is important."
Normal police matters and grant applications will also be discussed. Anyone wanting to know more about the forum or apply for a grant can contact the county council's area support team for Carlisle on 01228 601054.
