17/6/2005 - Fire safety demonstration for Brampton and District residents

Residents in Brampton and District will see the importance of fire safety in the home with a chip pan fire demonstration at the next neighbourhood forum.

Shaun Atkinson from Cumbria County Council's Fire Service will give the demonstration at the meeting on Monday 20th June at William Howard School at 7.30pm.

County councillor Philip Howard, chair of the forum said:

"I am delighted that the county council's fire service is coming along to the next forum to highlight the dangers of using chip pans in the home. Chip pan fires cause more injuries from fire in the home than anything else. They are safe as long as simple guidelines are followed and we will be able to advise residents about how they can stay safe while using them. I hope people take the time to come along on Monday."

Normal grant applications will also be considered along with an update on the Brampton Youth Project. Anyone interested in applying for a grant through the forum should contact the county council's area support team in Carlisle on 01228 606474.
