Residents from the Eden Fells area will be given the opportunity to air their views on how the county council can improve public sector service delivery at the next neighbourhood forum meeting.
A representative from the Cumbria Democracy Commission will be at the meeting on Thursday 23rd June at 7.30pm at Shap Memorial Hall.
The Cumbria Democracy Commission has been set up to look at how services can be better delivered and will be recommending to the county council the best democratic and administrative structures to support those improvements.
County councillor Roger Bird, chairman of the forum said:
"Modernising the county council, its services and how we make decisions is a priority for the county council. The Democracy Commission will build on the very good work already achieved and look at how we can improve the way in which we engage with local communities. This meeting will enable residents to talk about how they feel democracy can be improved, what would encourage more people to vote and how they could become better involved in local decision making. Neighbourhood forums play an important part in this process. These forums are at the heart of communities addressing issues that are important to the residents of those communities. I hope that people take the time to come along to this meeting."
Other issues on the forums agenda include:
1. Update from Eden District Council on the changes in the provision of public toilets in Eden
2. Eden Tourism
3. Young people question and answer session
