Residents from the Vale of Eden area will be presented with the plans for the proposed traffic calming scheme on the A6 at Plumpton at the next neighbourhood forum meeting.
The scheme has been designed to reduce traffic speed and improve road safety and includes; a reduction to the speed limit; improved street lighting; improved road markings and vehicle activated signs. An explanation about the scheme and the time scale for implementation will be given at the meeting on Thursday 30th June at 7.30pm at Plumpton School.
County councillor Bert Richardson, chairman of the forum said:
"After extensive consultation we are now at a stage to present the proposed traffic calming scheme for Plumpton. I would like to thank residents who have taken the time to look at the proposed plans and let us know their views on the scheme over the last few months. The scheme aims to improve road safety along this stretch of road. All comments have been taken into account and have been incorporated into the scheme design as much as possible."
The scheme will cost in the region of £50,000 funded from the Transport Capital Programme budget. The scheme is provisionally programmed to start during 2007/08 financial year.
Other issues to be discussed at the forum will be:
1. Housing in Eden
2. Young people question and answer session
3. Questions from Parish Councils and other local issues
