Childcare facilities and future provision is top of the agenda for the next Denton Holme and Longsowerby neighbourhood forum.
The meeting will be held at Morley Street Community Centre on Tuesday 22nd March at 7pm. Residents who attend will be able to hear about the development of community childcare for the area and proposals for the future. Representatives from the Carlisle Child Contact Centre will also explain to residents the work of the contact centre and how it can benefit the community.
Chris Southward, local county councillor for the area said:
"Childcare facilities is always an important issue for parents and sometimes they struggle to find good childcare that meets their needs as well as being affordable. Parents want to make sure that their child is being cared for in a safe and happy environment while they are able to go out to work or continue their education or training. This meeting will give residents an opportunity to hear from Cumbria Sure Start who are delivering these services throughout the county. They will explain how they intend to develop community childcare as well as looking at current provision and future plans.
The neighbourhood forum gives local people an opportunity to be involved with, and air their views on issues that are at the heart of their own community. I hope that people take the opportunity to come along to the meeting on Tuesday."
Other items on the agenda include an update on the 'Have your say' survey, any issues relating to the flood and how the county council can help, police matters and normal grant applications.
