The Easter holiday marks the beginning of the busy tourist season and Cumbria County Council is pleased to announce the return of the popular Windermere - Bowness Shuttle Bus.
Now in its third year, the Shuttle Bus will run every weekend until the end of October and will increase to a daily service between May and September.
A bus will run every twenty minutes between Windermere Rail Station and Braithwaite Fold in Bowness via Rayrigg Road. In partnership with the Stagecoach Service 599, the Shuttle Bus timetable is designed to ensure departures from the Rail Station to Bowness Pier every ten minutes.
New for 2005 is an extension of the route to include the award winning Blackwell Arts & Crafts House. The service now offers an hourly link to the attraction from Windermere Rail Station, Bowness Pier and Braithwaite Fold Car Park.
‘Mountain Goat’ and the Council operate the Shuttle Bus service with the aim of encouraging visitors to park at peripheral car parks.
Kevan Wilkinson, county council spokesman for transport, said:
"Visitors can use the service to access the many attractions of Windermere and Bowness without the need to bring their car into the area. The council continues to invest in schemes like the Shuttle Bus as they are of real benefit to both visitors and residents."
An All Day ticket costs £3.00 with discounts available, whilst single fares are now available for those wishing to only make one trip.
