2/3/2005 - £2,500 in social care grants for Eden

Today, Cumbria County Council’s Eden Local Committee ratified more than £2,500 of grants for voluntary organisations in Eden.

The social care grants, given by neighbourhood forums across Eden, are to support local organisations that provide care and support to people across the area who are vulnerable or disadvantaged in some way.

Organisations benefiting from this money are:

1. Eden Community Alarms - £1000 towards expenses and training for volunteers

2. North Stainmore Nursery - £758 for first aid training

3. Upper Eden Childminding Group - £840 for first aid training

County councillor Gary Strong, chair of the local committee said:

"This local committee continues to support voluntary organisations in Eden who provide essential services to residents of this area to address health, disability and social care issues. We want these groups to be able to access the funding easily and we try to support as many groups as we can.
