30/3/2005 - Improvements to Cumbria County Council supported bus services in Allerdale

New services and extra journeys will be laid on for bus passengers in Allerdale from 4th April following a review of bus routes supported by Cumbria County Council.

Journeys on the services 35, 36, 58, 217 and 219 will be re-timed slightly to improve connections in Cockermouth with X4 and X5 services to and from Keswick and Penrith.

There will be new services to and from the Beech Estate area of Maryport and the Windebrowe Avenue area of Keswick, whilst extra journeys will be provided on services to and from the Slatefell and Rose Lane areas of Cockermouth.

In Workington, the evening and Sunday services 46B and 50B will run to revised routes offering extra buses to and from Moreclose shops.

The first and last journeys on the 60 service between Maryport and Silloth will be re-timed to offer commuters better connections with the 38 service to and from Carlisle and Wigton.

The 604 from Uldale to Wigton will now run on Mondays and Fridays instead of Tuesdays and Fridays and will be operated by Town & Village Link of Wigton.

For more information on these services contract Traveline 0870 608 2 608 or pick up a copy of the revised timetable leaflet from the usual outlets such as libraries, Tourist Information Centres and some post offices.

Cumbria County Council spends more than £500,000 a year subsidising bus services for the people of the Allerdale district. The review of supported services in Allerdale was carried out to improve transport for people in the area and to ensure maximum benefit from the public money being spent.
