4/3/2005 - County Council support for the Voluntary Sector

Voluntary Agencies across Cumbria have an opportunity on Monday 7th March to tell Councillor Mike Ash, Deputy Leader of Cumbria County Council about how the council can improve even further its links with the voluntary sector. He will be attending a special meeting of the Cumbria Association of Councils for Voluntary Service (CACVS) at Penrith Rugby Club at 10.00am.

Mike Ash says:

"Cumbria needs a vibrant voluntary sector. As well as the ongoing important support provided for people across Cumbria by a wide range of voluntary agencies, events like the recent storms and floods, and foot and mouth show the important role volunteers from local communities play. They make a valuable contribution to life in the county.

The county council works extremely well with the voluntary sector. As well as stressing the importance of working in partnership I'll be looking to see how we can build on our close relationship to benefit people across the county."
