Twenty-one schools from Allerdale, Carlisle and Eden will take part in this years ACE Dance Festival at the Sands Centre in Carlisle on Friday 11th March at 7.30pm.
The sell-out festival aims to give children the experience in working with a dance specialist in their own school environment to produce a piece for performance and watch others perform. Teachers also benefit by developing their own skills and expertise through working with the dance specialist.
The festival is funded by The Cumberland Building Society. Dance themes include 'rock and roll', the musicals Grease and Chicago, and many more.
County councillor Joan Stocker, cabinet member for education said:
"This is entirely consistent with Cumbria County Council’s commitment to encourage and increase the amount of sport and other activities available in schools whilst continuing to work to raise educational standards for all of the children in this County.
The schools taking part in this year's festival spent one term on a curriculum piece with the support from a dance worker for four lessons. It is a wonderful opportunity for these children to gain experience in dance as well as having a lot of fun at the same time."
