29/11/2005 - Snap up stunning Cumbrian calendar

Lovers of spectacular scenery can support Cumbria’s Air Ambulance while admiring the county’s landscapes from the comfort of their offices, kitchens and living rooms in 2006.

Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Life Magazine’s 2006 Calendar is on sale now and a donation will be made to the Air Ambulance for every calendar sold.

The calendar features the winning images from the photography competition run by Cumbria County Council’s “Your Cumbria” magazine earlier in the year. The competition received hundreds of high quality entries from across the county and the lucky winners have already received their free calendar.

The calendars cost just £5 and are available from libraries throughout the county; online at www.cumbrialife.co.uk; or from the Cumbrian Newspapers Offices on Bank Street in Carlisle, Oxford Street in Workington and Queen Street in Whitehaven.

Tim Stoddard, Leader of Cumbria County Council says:

“Cumbria County Council is very proud of the backing we have given Cumbria Air Ambulance and we are delighted to be able to continue to support them. I hope people will buy the calendar knowing they will be helping a vitally important and worthy cause.

The standard of entries in the photography competition was incredibly high and made it very difficult for the judging panel. It also means that there are some unique images in the 2006 calendar. From the Whitehaven Coast to Rainbows over Milnthorpe there are stunning images from across the county.”

Barbra Walton, General Manager of the Great North Air Ambulance Service says:

"Support like this is absolutely vital to maintain our Air Ambulance here in Cumbria. We would like to thank Cumbria County Council  for their backing, on behalf of all the people who may benefit from this service due to this generous donation."
