29/11/2005 - Education stalwarts honoured

Chairman of Cumbria County Council, John Collier, will present long service awards to 15 members of staff who have each completed 35 years service within education.  The awards ceromony will be held on Friday 2nd December 2005, at 11.30am in Tullie House, Carlisle.

Each will be presented with a gift to the value of £350.  The staff collecting the awards are from schools and colleges across the county, and include Head Teachers, Teachers, Midday Supervisors and Technicians.  Between them they have clocked up more than 525 years of public service.

John Collier is looking forward to presenting the awards, he says:

" I am delighted to be presenting the awards to staff from a wide range of schools. These awards recognise a contribution made over the majority of a persons working life.

"The awards represent an incredible achievement from teachers and support staff whose service has made an immeasurable contribution to the lives and education of young people in Cumbria. I would like to thank each and everyone of them for the dedication and commitment they have given to young people in the county."
