An evening of wine, food and music has been laid on to allow artist from the Barrow area to network and mingle.
Around 150 artists, writers, poets and musicians from the Furness area have been invited to the event at Forum 28 in Barrow on Thursday, 10th November, at 5.30pm.
The event has been organised by the Barrow Arts Forum which is funded and supported by Cumbria County Council. Its aim is to bring members of the creative community together to discuss the state of the arts in the Furness area.
Ian Booth, chairman of the Barrow Arts Forum, will open proceedings and give a presentation about arts initiatives at Dowdales School and Neil Doherty from Furness Community Network will talk about how his organisation fits in with the forum.
Steve Turton, classical guitarist from Barrow, will provide musical accompaniment.
County councillor Roger Bingham, cabinet spokesman for culture, said:
"This will be a good opportunity to bring creative people together to work out what can be done to help the cultural life of Furness to flourish. Culture and history are such important parts of community life it is crucial that we take care and do what we can to support them."
