17/11/2005 - Resource Management Event for schools and educational establishments

Today, Cumbria County Council’s education finance team is holding a Resource Management Event for schools and educational establishments at the jubilee grandstand at Carlisle Race Course from 9am.

The event aims to help these establishments become better financial managers and buyers of goods and services while recognising their Best Value responsibilities.  The event will also give representatives of these establishments the opportunity to meet providers of various services to schools including business units within the county council and Capita.

County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:

"This is the fourth year that the county council has held this event.  Over 50 traders will exhibit a range of supplies throughout the day.  School representatives will be able to attend various seminars and workshops focusing on bank account advice, how to apply for various grants, health and safety issues and an update on next years budget settlement.  Schools and education services from other parts of the North of England will also be attending.  Previous events have proved very successful and I'm sure this year will be no exception."
