A number of national high profile representatives from the field of Gifted & Talented education will be sharing their knowledge and expertise at Cumbria's annual conference this week.
Tim Dracup, Head of the Gifted & Talented Education Unit at the DfES, David George, Education Consultant and internationally renowned lecturer and Ceri Morgan from HMI Ofsted will be making presentations at the conference to give teachers and co-ordinators an insight in the type and level of provision expected for our most talented youngsters.
County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:
"The DfES has already acknowledged the excellent provision we have here in Cumbria for our Gifted and Talented young people. This county council is committed to this area to make sure high quality provision is maintained and this conference will enable us to improve even further and make sure that Cumbrian schools continue to make effective provision for our most able pupils."
Exhibitions sharing good practice provision and ideas will also be displayed at the conference from schools across the county. Members of Cumbria County Council's Gifted and Talented team will also provide information about the developments in provision across the county for our most talented pupils. The conference will be held at Rheged Discovery Centre at Penrith on Thursday 20th October.
