17/10/2005 - New Corporate Director of Adult Services starts

Jill Stannard, Cumbria County Council's new Corporate Director for Adult Services took up her post today.

Jill moves to Cumbria from Hampshire where she was Hampshire County Council's Assistant Director of Social Services, with responsibility for Adult Services.

She has a proven track record of delivering service improvements and working successfully with health authorities and district councils and is looking forward to her new role and working with Cumbria County Council's many partners.

Jill Stannard said:

"I am delighted to have arrived at Cumbria County Council and look forward to working with council colleagues, external partners and the people of Cumbria. I am committed to ensuring that our Adult Services Directorate is responsive to the residents of the county and that we offer the very best services possible. I look forward to meeting staff and partners in the next few months."

County councillor Oliver Pearson, cabinet spokesman for Adult Services said:

"I am looking forward to working with Jill. She will take up officer leadership of this newly formed directorate and will lead delivery of some of the most important council services. She has a great deal of experience in social care and adult services. I am confident that she will be a great success here at Cumbria County Council." 

Jill is 47 and enjoys fell walking with her husband.
