Cumbrian job-hunters could boost their chances by enrolling on one of the new CV builder courses organised by Cumbria County Council’s Adult Education and Library Services.
A CV is a very important document, securing a job, taking the next step up the career ladder, a better position, more money, or a new challenge could all depend on it. Your CV must represent the best you have to offer if you do not want to miss out on that job you saw which was 'perfect' for you.
Employers often receive hundreds of CVs for each advertised position. So your CV has to stand out if you want to obtain interviews.
Writing a CV can be difficult. What should it include? What can be left out? What order should it all go in? How should it be presented?
The County Council Adult Education and Library Services have teamed up to provide a free course that will answer all these questions and more. Libraries across the county are now offering 9 hour CV Builder courses which give people the skills they need to produce an effective CV as well as the opportunity to gain an up-to-date qualification in English.
County Councillor Philip Chapelhow, spokesman for Lifelong Learning says:
"The County Council is committed to lifelong learning across Cumbria and enhancing job opportunities for people living and working in the county. These courses offer an excellent opportunity for people to develop effective and professional CVs that could provide a real boost to their career prospects."
