A £20,000 resurfacing scheme will require two weeks of road closures for Dalton-in-Furness starting on Monday, 20th February.
Parts of Market Street and Ulverston Road will be closed from 8am and remain closed for two weeks while the areas of the road are resurfaced and other are repaired.
Diversions will be in place and the work has been timed to coincide with half term in order to minimise disruption. Some disruption is, however, inevitable and people visiting the town centre are advised to leave their cars outside the area effected and walk in or use other means of transport or allow extra time for their journeys. Through-traffic bound to or from Barrow should use the Dalton-by-pass or other routes.
Members of the Local Committee for Barrow area appealing for patience from local people while the improvements to the town centre are carried out.
A plan of the diversion routes is available at Dalton Town Hall and at the county council offices at the Nan Tait centre in Barrow.
The text of the public notice relating to the works and describing the diversions is included in notes for editors.
