23/2/2006 - Grievance hearing of Ian Mackay

A panel of representatives of Cumbria County Council and the Carlisle Diocese has reached a decision following a grievance hearing into the suspension of Mr Ian Mackay from Scotby School.

The grievance hearing was held on Thursday 16 February 2006. The panel’s decisions have not led to Mr Mackay’s immediate return to school. A disciplinary hearing will be held on a date yet to be decided by all parties.

The grievance hearing was held by the County Council with the agreement of the parties and addressed the original decision to suspend Mr Mackay.

The decisions of the panel have been communicated to Mr Mackay and the Chair of Governors of Scotby School.  The written notification is extensive.

Mr Mackay and the Chair of Governors have a right of appeal against the panel’s findings.
